Project Spotlight: Yogi Berra Stadium Reconstruction

Date: April 4, 2024

SCE completed the survey, preliminary design, final design, permitting, and construction administration and observation services for the reconstruction of Yogi Berra Stadium at Montclair State University’s (MSU) campus. The improvements included the replacement of the natural grass field with a synthetic turf baseball field including an underground stormwater detention system, new outfield walls, new foul poles, new batters eye, renovations to the dugouts, restrooms, press box, and locker rooms, new bullpens, new batting cages, new pitch clocks, new storage areas, and upgraded utilities such as water, electric, and communications. In addition, the existing lighting was replaced with a new LED lighting system and a new storage shed was added beyond the outfield. The project team fast-tracked the design and construction for completion in time for the 2024 baseball season!

This stadium renovation was a partnership between both MSU and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), which now provides a home field for both of the schools’ NCAA baseball programs.
