Title: Designer / Senior Designer / Engineer (Civil Engineering)
Reports to: Project Engineer, Project Manager, or Department Manager
Location: Wall, NJ

Brief Description:

SCE is seeking a Designer / Senior Civil Designer with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. New Jersey PE career path is required with experience in site design and permitting, municipal engineering, stormwater management design. The candidate shall have a detailed knowledge and good understanding of relevant New Jersey Regulations and permitting requirements, both at the local and State level.

Under direction of project managers, the candidate will assist project teams on the planning, design, creation, and development of land areas for park and recreational facilities, sports field facilities and sites.

The candidate shall also be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and all Microsoft applications, as well as being able to:

  • Delegate tasks and oversee project design through to completion.
  • Collaborate with design teams.
  • Manage and direct Junior Designers.
  • Have a creative approach and be motivated.
  • Have strong interpersonal, verbal, graphic and written communication.

Requirements (education, licensing, certifications, etc.):

  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Designer: 0-3 years of experience, Senior Designer / Engineer: 3-8 years of experience
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred (NJ PE license track)
  • Proficient in:
    • Microsoft Office
    • AutoCAD

Work Environment:

Full-time in-office attendance initially required with potential for hybrid in-office/work-from-home option possible once proficient at assigned tasks. Limited field-based work may also be required. Paid overtime possible depending on position and departmental workload.
