Hank Aaron Park & Home Run Plaza Receives a 2022 NJPO Award

Date: October 4, 2022

Exciting News – The City of Newark’s Hank Aaron Park & Home Run Plaza project received a 2022 Achievement in Planning Award from the New Jersey Planning Officials (NJPO)! Congratulations to the City and the entire SCE Project Team who were involved in the planning and design of this Award-Winning Facility! Check out the video below to learn more about this project.

The City of Newark Hank Aaron Baseball Field was a natural grass field that struggled to thrive for various reasons. The City decided to upgrade the facility to a synthetic turf field and add additional amenities to better serve the users of the field. These amenities included a double lane batting cage, an announcer’s booth, additional bleachers, a home run plaza, upgraded scoreboard and new fencing. The City and entire Project Team worked diligently to create a one-of-a-kind athletic facility that could thrive in the local community for years to come.
